PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is an important part of any Health and Safety Policy.

 

The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and promote a safe working environment.

 

What is a portable appliance?

A portable appliance is simply an item of electrical equipment, which is connected to the power by means of a plug or socket. 

 

Examples of such equipment are:

Monitors, printers

computers, fridges,

vacuum cleaners,

cash tills etc

 

 

And also items such as:

Grinders, drills, saws,

and other machinery. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These items could be 230v or 110v.
